Project Overview
Asolo Rep is celebrating the 100th anniversary of John Ringling's relocation of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus to Sarasota with a world premiere docu-musical, The Day the Circus Came to Town. This production draws inspiration from numerous interviews with legends in Sarasota’s Circus Community and honors the generations of circus artists who have captivated audiences across the nation.
About the Production
This docu-musical offers a glimpse behind the scenes of the circus life, featuring stories and songs that explore clown alley, life on the road, and the excitement of being in the center ring of the Greatest Show on Earth. The cast will include actors, acrobats, aerialists, and a singing Ringmaster accompanied by the Circus Band, creating a nostalgic experience for all.

- Seeking: Young male performer for various roles in the production.
Dates & Deadlines
- First Rehearsal: February 12th, 2027
- Opening Night: March 27th, 2027
- Closing Night: April 24th, 2027
Compensation
- LORT Non-Rep: $1213 weekly minimum (LORT B)
- OTHER: $889 weekly minimum (LORT D)
Audition Information
- Break/Lunch: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
- Preparation:
- For plays: Two monologues, no more than two minutes total.
- For musicals: A brief song or 16 bars of a song and a one-minute contemporary monologue.
- An accompanist will be provided. Please bring a hard copy of your headshot and résumé stapled together.
Additional Notes
An Equity Monitor will not be provided.
