Roles
5DAWN O'KEEFE
An evangelical Christian girl with strong convictions and a good heart; leader of the Promise Keeper Girls, the teen chastity group at New Testament Village, and Pastor's stepdaughter. After her boyfriend forces himself on her, Dawn discovers her body has teeth. The show follows her from shame and terror to a power that finally consumes her, as she becomes the goddess Dentata. Must carry the show with total sincerity and real comic instincts. Vocal: Mezzo belter, F#3 to G#5.
BRAD O'KEEFE
Pastor's son and Dawn's stepbrother. Smart and perceptive, but lost and lonely. When they were small children, Dawn's teeth injured his finger, and the pain he still carries has drawn him into the Truthseekers, an online community of angry young men led by an influencer called Godfather. Over the course of the show he turns violent. Must find both the humor and the hurt in a kid sliding toward something ugly. Vocal: Tenor / baritone; contemporary pop/rock style.
TOBEY
Dawn's boyfriend and captain of the Eden High Crossbearers basketball team: handsome, religiously convicted, with a temper. The night he proposes, he forces himself on Dawn, and her teeth bite back. Doubles as incidental male characters as needed. Vocal: Tenor; contemporary pop/rock with strong upper extension and falsetto control ("Modest Is Hottest").
RYAN
A tech-savvy, closeted gay teen who runs New Testament Village's livestream. He becomes Dawn's confidant and offers to be the hero who conquers her teeth, hoping it will make him straight. Then, without asking her, he live streams their night together. Warm, funny, and conflicted. Doubles as incidental male characters as needed. Vocal: Tenor; contemporary pop/rock with strong upper extension and falsetto control ("I'm Your Guy").
PROMISE KEEPER GIRLS
Members of Dawn's chastity group at New Testament Village: a diverse group of young women with a wide range of body and personality types. Each has individual lines and solo moments, and together they work as the show's chorus, transforming from devoted church girls into Dentata's followers. Fearless comedically and strong movers. Vocal: Sopranos and mezzos; bright, tight pop/rock harmony, strong belt, and big dynamic shifts.
