About the Project

'The Secret Garden' is a beloved classic of children's literature, reimagined for the stage with a musical score by composer Lucy Simon and playwright Marsha Norman. The story follows 11-year-old Mary Lennox, who, after being orphaned in India, returns to Yorkshire, England, to live with her reclusive uncle Archibald and his son Colin. During her stay, Mary discovers a locked garden, once cherished by Archibald’s late wife, now overgrown and neglected. Determined to revive the garden, Mary also seeks to bring joy back to her Uncle Archibald.

Roles

• Age Requirement: 10 years and older

Dates & Deadlines

• First Rehearsal: 10/27/26
• Production Runs: 12/3/26 - 12/27/26 (Thursdays to Sundays, with holiday performances on 12/23, 12/26, and 12/27)

Compensation

• Rate: SPT $394 weekly minimum (SPT 2)

Audition Information

• Actors should prepare:
  • One 60-90 second monologue
  • One 32-bar cut of music (if auditioning for musical roles)
• Non-musical auditioners may perform an additional monologue if time allows.
• An accompanist will be available for musical auditions.
• Please bring a stapled headshot and resume.
• Break: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
• An Equity Monitor will not be present; the producer will oversee the audition process.
• Always bring your Equity Membership card to auditions.
