About the Project

Set in the golden age of vaudeville, 'Gypsy' follows the ambitious stage mother Rose, who is determined to make her daughters stars. With iconic numbers like “Some People,” Rose pushes her younger daughter June into the spotlight, while shy Louise remains in the shadows.

As the family travels across the country performing acts such as “Let Me Entertain You,” the world of show business begins to change, leading to tensions within their tightly controlled lives. When June breaks away to pursue her own future, Rose shifts her focus to Louise, encouraging her to step into the spotlight.

In a bold transformation set to “You Gotta Get a Gimmick,” Louise reinvents herself as the sophisticated Gypsy Rose Lee. Rose, confronted with her own dreams and sacrifices in the showstopping “Rose’s Turn,” must face the cost of her ambition. Featuring a rich score by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim, 'Gypsy' is a powerful story of fame, family, and the pursuit of the spotlight.

Compensation

Actors will receive a stipend ranging from $350 to $500, depending on the role, for a total of 12 shows.

Audition Details

• Invited Callbacks: Sunday, May 17, 6:00-10:00 PM
• Preparation:
  • 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show.
  • Bring sheet music in a three-ring binder (an accompanist will be provided; no taped music or a cappella allowed).
  • Bring a resume and headshot.
  • A form will need to be filled out upon arrival at auditions, including any conflicts with the rehearsal schedule.
