Tune in. The holidays are about to come alive. It’s Christmas Eve, 1946, and the cast of radio station WBFR is bringing you a live broadcast of the most beloved holiday story ever told. Watch as a small ensemble of actors voices dozens of characters, conjuring an entire world, and the town of Bedford Falls, with nothing but microphones, sound effects, and pure theatrical magic. Follow George Bailey, a man who gave up his dreams again and again to help his neighbors, as he reaches his breaking point on Christmas Eve and is visited by Clarence, an angel still trying to earn his wings, who shows him what the world would look like if he’d never been born. Warm, witty, and wonderfully nostalgic, this charming production is a love letter to old-time radio, community, and the people who make life worth living.

Project Details

• Performers: This show is performed by five actors (three men, two women) playing a company of 1940s radio performers who, in turn, voice dozens of characters live on air. Expect quick switches between voices, some doubling as children, and plenty of ad-libbed crowd work. Double-casting roles may shift a little based on actors’ skills.
• Performances: Weekends December 4th-13th at the Fangmeyer Theatre
  • December 4, 5, and 12 at 7:30 pm
  • December 6 at 2 pm
  • December 13 at 5 pm
• Rehearsals: The directors anticipate a four-week rehearsal period. Exact dates are still being finalized, but Thanksgiving will be off.
