Seeking Families for Documentary Film 'My First Smartphone'

Project Overview

Casting Nationwide! We are looking for families with children for the documentary feature film 'My First Smartphone'. This film will explore the experiences of four families before, during, and after their child receives their first smartphone (the phone will be provided).

About the Project

• The film aims to capture a variety of perspectives on smartphones, whether you are cautious about technology or a digital enthusiast.
• We invite families who are planning to introduce a first phone to their child to apply.

Roles

• Families of all types are encouraged to apply, including ESL (English as a Second Language) families. The directors are bilingual and welcome Spanish/Spanglish speaking families.
• All household members should be willing to participate in the filming.

Filming Details

• The filming will take place in your family's home and personal space.
• Families will use the First Phone app and the provided smartphone during filming, documenting the child's usage. Parents will review the footage before it is shared with filmmakers.
• The production will collaborate with families to create a filming schedule that accommodates everyone.

Filming Schedule

• Pre-Phone Life: One week of filming before the child receives the phone.
• New-Phone Life: Scheduled filming throughout the month to capture phone usage.
• Parents will have access to review recorded footage before post-production.

Compensation

• Families will receive a brand new iPhone or Android phone (exact model TBD).
• A fee of $2500 will be provided for the use of the footage captured by the smartphone in the finished film.

Important Note: Families do not incur any costs; the fee is provided if selected for filming. There is no payment for submitting or auditioning.
